中华总会北区协会的会长李德全
大师吉祥,我是国际佛光会中华总会北区协会李德全,我有一个问题,我们都知道,一般的出家中出家以后,都是一辈子,对于出家是他终身的任务。今天就是因为这样,而受到我们在家居士崇高的礼敬。可是大师在共识与开放中的开放,第九条有提到,开放出家僧侣可以还俗再入道。对于这个我就不是很清楚,能否请大使为我们开示,阿弥陀佛。
这不是我说的,在佛教里面,出家,在家都一样,只要不变信仰就好了。
This is not my ideal, because it has been an existing rule in history, what matters is that your faith in Buddhism does not change.
在我的了解,佛教的戒律里面,男众可以七次出家七次还俗
To my understanding the Buddhist Vinaya allows bhikkhu, the man to renounce his robe repeatedly for seven times.
但你出家就做好出家人,还俗。 不能做好出家人就做在家人,好好的还俗做在家人
But should you decide to be a monastic, stay on the path; should you decide to disrobe, then stay on path again. Stick to your path.
好像我记得大陆有一个名山,有一个人九次还俗,他后来做了祖师,叫做九还祖师
There was a Chinese Buddhist monk, who repeated this nine times, and ended up being a patriarch, so he was the Ninth Returned Patriarch known in Chinese Buddhism.
还俗不是可耻的事情, 又没有偷,没有抢,只是我对佛教的戒律不容易守持,生活不习惯,我还是做在家人,这个很正常
It is not a shame to disrobe. It is just that the monastic find life style of the kind of unsuitable, so he decides to return to normal life
现在在南传的佛教,他们互相介绍,都不介绍哪个什么事业,学历,都介绍这个人出家五年,那个人出家十二年,那个人出家有十八年啦
So in mainland China now, most of the time the bhikkhu or monastic are introduced according to the years that they have being a monastic, instead of their academic background
像泰国就是做皇帝,他也要出家三个月,才算等于服兵役,有做人的资格。
Even the emperor of Thailand has to live a life of a monastic for three months before he is eligible to become an emperor
佛光山办短期出家,不是有的人出了家又回家,又再来出家,一次一次,这个还是正常情形,有功德的。
For those in Taiwan, they can attend short term monastic retreat, where they can become renounce and disrobe quite a few times, it is OK because it is a way to accumulate your merits.
在佛陀在世的时候,有一个吃酒吃醉了的那个醉汉,也是等于流氓一样,就胡说八道,吃酒就酒疯。他看到佛陀,他说,喂,佛陀,我也跟你出家做比丘吧
In the Buddha’s time, there was a man who got really drunk and started to act crazy. When he lost his consciousness, he went to the Buddha and said Hey! Let me become a monastic
佛祖就叫舍利佛,来,赶快替这个人剃度
So the Buddha said to his attendant, said, quick, help this man shave his head
舍利佛就很为难,佛陀,那是个醉汉,他是喝酒讲的醉语,这乱说啊,怎么能让他出家呀
But Shariputra was hesitant, he said, this is a drunken man, how can you take him seriously
佛祖说,这个人罪业深重,一点佛缘,一点善根都没有,好不容易今天说出来他要出家,趁这个机会给他剃个头
In reply the Buddha said, this is a man came from a lot of transgressions, so why don’t we use this time as an opportunity to help him shave his head
有这一次剃头出家的这一点善根,将来还是可以能有成就的
With the little virtue he has from the coming renounce, he shall have something good for the future
所以像现在短期出家发心的人,对未来的成就,真是不可限量的功德
So please never underestimate your aspiration to attend the short term monastic retreat. There is endless possibilities
当然一生都出家,守道,守戒,为佛教努力奋斗,所以我最近要办一件事情,要选五百个人间菩萨
But it is even more honorary for someone to stick to the monastic life and contribute his life to Buddhism for the rest of his life. So quite recently I come up with a plan for some people to nominate 500 Bodhisattva of the world.
当初佛陀说,你将来到东方什么世界成佛,你将来到南方什么地方成佛,名号叫什么如来,叫做授记
You might remember in the Buddha’s time, he actually predicted for some Buddhas and say you shall become a Buddha in a world with so and so name
那我们现在佛教这个流传,历代的菩萨,发心救人救世的,这很多很多
And now in our time, we understand there are a lot of people who are willing to reach out and help other people
菩萨不止是观世音,地藏王,菩萨也不是供在那里的,人间菩萨,所谓人间佛教会有人间菩萨。
Bodhisattva we don’t refer to the statues we see on the altar. We are actually talking about humanistic Bodhisattva in Humanistic Buddhism.
我最近选五百个菩萨,比丘一百人,
Within this plan, I hope the people can nominate 100 Bhikkhus
一百二十年之内的
Those who have existing within the past 120 years
印光大师他不能称菩萨吗?
Say for example master Yin Guang. Isn’t he good enough to be a Bodhisattva?
弘一大师她不能称菩萨吗?
What about master Hongyi? Isn’t he good enough to be a Bodhisattva?
太虚大师他不能称菩萨吗?
And what about master Taixu?
甚至于我们台湾有好多的出家人,我不念他的名字,念了你们也不了解,我会把他历史提呈给大家了解。也有好多菩萨
There are also a lot of Bodhisattva people around the world whose name you don’t know, so I shall make their name known by you
比丘尼也是一百人,
I would also wish to nominate 100 bhikkhunis as Bodhisattva.
比方说,办华梵大学的晓云法师,他不能称菩萨吗?
Take for example, venerable Hsiao Yun, the founder of Huafan University in Taiwan
办慈济功德回的证严,他不能称菩萨吗?
Or master Zhengyan, of Ciji Compassion Foundation
我们佛光山好多的比丘尼长老,像慈惠法师,慈容法师跟随我六十几年了,对了,办大学,见寺院,教书,也都不回家,一生这么奉献,他们不能做人间菩萨吗?
What about the many elderly bhikhunis of Fo Guang Shan like Ven, Tzu Hui Tzu Rong, and many who have dedicated with entire life to Buddhist education of modern takings
男众居士两百名,因为居士,男菩萨比较多
Then we are also looking for 200 lay bodhisattvas man
很有名,中兴佛教的南京金陵刻经处的杨仁山,比维摩居士,比维摩大士,我认为还要成就更高一点。杨仁山不能称为菩萨吗?
We are talking about lay man. Lay Buddhist who have contributed tremendously to Buddhism. For example, the founder of the Jinling Sutra printing publishing house Yang Ren Shan. He has properly done something greater than Vimalakirti himself
台湾的李炳南居士,他不能称为菩萨吗?
And from Taiwan, the famous pureland teacher Li Bing Nan, isn’t he good enough to be a Bodhisattva?
成立大专学校的校团的周宣德,他不能称为菩萨吗?
Zhou Xuan De, a man who became a university president
浙江人章太炎的女婿朱镜宙,做金陵刻经处,他不能称菩萨吗?
Also a man by the name Zhu Jing Zhou who co-founded the Nanjing Jinling Sutra publishing house,
我们佛光山前总会的副会长严宽古,印经处,热心佛教的几十年,牺牲奉献,他不是菩萨吗?
The former vice president of BLIA headquarter Mr. Yan Kuan Gu who has passed away, but he dedicated his life to printing sutras and promoting dharma
