原创对照：妙光法师交传翻译

我只怀着感恩的心情，在你们前面坐在这个中间实在惭愧
So therefore as I sat here I have a heart filled with gratitude and a bit of shame

虽然是到了 现在这个老残年龄，有时候很多的行动都不方便，不过想到就要感谢大家，只要能供有使用的地方，我都应该要参加
Although I am now a handicap old man, but any time I have any energy, I will always fulfill my duty to be with you

我现在九十岁了，我不会关心生死的问题
I am 90 years old now, at this age I have no concerns regarding death

人生是生是死都是一样
Because to me birth and death are the same

我再告诉你们各位，人要死都死不了
Let me tell you a secret, sometimes even if you want to die, you can not die

这一个身体，当然房子会坏了
Our body is like a house that will eventually breakdown

坏了可以重建新的大楼
Out of the collapse house you can rebuild a whole building over it

身体死了，人可以再转换一个身体，还是可以再到人间来
In other words, you can change into a new body and then return to this world

气候，春夏秋冬，不是轮转的吗
It is just the same as the four seasons that come and go in a cycle

时间， 过去，现在，未来，也是不是要轮转的吗？
And the time which works in the past, present and future also works in the cycle which will come and go

物质，成，住，坏，空，空了不会又再有了吗？
Physical matters will go through the process of formation, existence, deterioration and destruction, but what follow destruction will be formation again

人老，病，死，生，生了以后，就有未来就有希望
For human beings you go through the process of old age sickness death then rebirth, so what follows death will be rebirth which is hope

我觉得死亡就像木柴烧火，一根木柴烧完啦，再一根木柴，又烧完啦，再一根木柴，身体也是一样，身体一根一根地换，可是生命的火会一直延续下去的
Therefore to me death will be a log that burns out in a fire that continues by the addition of a new log, so as we continue to exchange our bodies, life will be what goes on forever

假如人生有死亡，不过没有关系，就好像移民一样，这里不要了，到另外的地方又会生存
Therefore any moment that you come across the face of death,just treat it like immigration you are now simply migrating to a new place

大家信佛教，最重要的对自己要有信心
So when you find faith in Buddhism, what is more important is that you find faith in yourself

甚至你可以不信佛教，但你不能不相信自己
You can even relinquish your faith in Buddhism, but the only faith you must never relinquish is that in yourself

相信自己，我能够，我可以，我会，你要觉得我有这个能源，你具有能源，还怕你在这个宇宙之间没有未来吗？没有成功的希望吗？
So have faith in yourself in a fact that I can I am able, I am capable, and I have hope, so if you have that hope if you have that faith, then anything can become possible

当然世间上有好，不好，成功，失败，有种种的变化
In this world there will be all kinds of happenings,sometimes you may fail, sometimes you may succeed,you will experience all kinds of changes

我这一生的变化，别的不说，其实我也没有什么特长，我只有一个特长，就常常真空变妙有
I don’t have a lot of skills, but I have one thing in particular that is my ability to turn nothing into something

我家里贫穷，我到台湾来什么都没有，现在你们说佛光普照三千界，对了，什么都有
I came from a poor family from China to Taiwan with nothing. But now you would see the universe shining of the Buddha’s light and as well as the flow of dharma water throughout the five continents

本来是一个空空如也的一个穷和尚，贫僧，现在你说，我要什么没有吗？
I was a humble monk who came empty handed but now wouldn’t you say that I am one who can have anything that I wanted

我现在挂念的，佛光山所有的，就是我们的一些出家的弟子，我是真空变妙有，我怕他们妙有变真空
But my only concern right now, as a monk who can turn nothing into something, I am extremely worried when my disciples might one day turn something into nothing

在海外的各个道场，常常因为人少，最初还有点信徒来拜拜。到最后越来越少，慢慢那个地方就没有用了，不是妙有变真空吗？
Say for example branch temple overseas may begin with a few numbers of devotees, but the number continue to decrease until it stops functioning, so this is what I mean by turning something into nothing

现在只有把这个责任，交来给你们大家，千万不要让所有的佛光山，妙有变真空，你们大家要负责
So I shall now entrust Fo Guang Shan into your hands, please please never turn something into nothing

让佛光，所谓佛光普照嘛，不但佛光普照，要佛光长照才行
It is not enough for the Buddha’s light to shine universally. It is more important to let the Buddha’s light shine eternally

人间佛教，加入我们大家懂得奉行，必定如我们的希望，必定有未来。大家可以说，获得人间佛教里面的法喜充满
I believe that as long as you understand,accept and practice and have faith in Humanistic Buddhism, anything can be possible. It will surely lead a life in perfection and happiness

但是这个道理，不是说的，要怎么做才重要
But now not just talk to talk, let’s think about how to walk the walk

我觉得我有能做到，所以我能真空变妙有
I believe that being able to walk the walk, I can turn nothing into something

我当然希望你们，跟随佛光山的大家，每一个人都能真空变妙有
Certainly I hope everyone of you will be able to do the same

那我的这个想法也不要多说了，要跟你们谈话嘛，我要让你们跟我问，我来跟你们讲话
I shall not take up too much time as it is Q&A session this evening, I would like to hear from you

这个要讲话的人，是不是到前面来坐，依序来一个一个地讲
Let’s work out a system, if you would like to say something, I might ask you to come to the front and line up

问话不可以超过一分钟

因为不是你讲筵，你不能讲太长的时间
