Let’s welcome the founding president Venerable Master Hsing Yun.

大家好，大家吉祥。
Auspicious greetings and good evening

我们今天晚上就闲话家常，不拘什么人，都可以提出问题。不要顾忌。
So tonight let’s have a heart to heart connection. Anyone can say anything.

我记得多年来经常有人问我，你这一生最苦难是什么事。
Quite often people ask me what has been your greatest challenge in life

很奇怪，我都不知道人生有什么困难
But the strange thing is that I never have trouble coming across the challenge.

仔细地讲，这个困难不是没有，不过我都没有感受
It is not that challenges don’t arise but they never fail to challenge me.

甚至于我有两次坐牢狱的经验，也有绑捆法场要枪毙的机会。但我都没有觉得害怕，也没有觉得很困难。这个人生就是如此而已。
There were also in two occasions where I almost got executed and I almost lost my life. But nevertheless, they never became a difficulty or adversity to me.

你建佛光山有什么苦难吗？
Or have you come across any challenges when you founded Fo Guang Shan?

佛光山不是我建的，是信徒你们大家把他成就起来的。
But I never founded Fo Guang Shan, it is you all devoted to found the Fo Guang Shan together.

所以我常常对于信徒你们大家回来，我只有一个感觉，用台湾话来说，各位老板，你们大家回来
So for this reason whenever I see you coming back to Fo Guang Shan, I will say dear bosses, dear owners welcome home

我们是辛劳员工，应该给大家报告这里的情况
We are actually your employees. And it is our duties to report to you

做辛劳的就是应该服务嘛，有什么困难呢
So it is our duty to offer service, so what challenges should there be

苦难的是你们信徒们，你们才伟大
The true challenges are actually faced by you, who have being great

要走那么远的路，坐飞机，好辛苦才能到佛光山
You have to travel long distance in order to come to Fo Guang Shan

来到佛光山，哎呀，这里也要钱，那里也要钱，很麻烦
Once you have arrived at Fo Guang Shan, you have to pay here you have to pay there, so that is quite a bit of challenge to you.

有时候我们只想到很惭愧，很抱歉，觉得对你们这许多功德主对不起，只有感恩而已。
So quite often we feel very apologetic because we asked for so much from you, so the only thing we have to show to you is our gratitude.

现在目前佛光山五十年过去了，大家很关心未来的五十年怎么办
Now that we have reached the 50th year mark. I am sure that your concern will be what happened in the next 50 years

你们各位知道佛光山有四大宗旨，第一以文化弘扬佛法，
You might understand that Fo Guang shan follows four objectives. The first one is to propagate the dharma through culture

第二以教育培养人才
Second, to foster talents through education.

第三以慈善福利社会
Third, to benefit society through charity

第四以共修净化人心
Fourth, to purify human mind through spiritual cultivation

现在向你们报告像目前佛光山，从佛陀纪念馆到藏经楼，人间佛教研究院，佛宝，法宝，佛光山就僧宝。
I would like to report to you now what when you come to here you will see three buildings the Buddha Museum, the Sutra Repository which represents the Institute of Humanistic Buddhism. And thirdly Fo Guang Shan monastery which represent the Buddha, the Dharma and the Sangha altogether.

以后你们各位要接触佛光山文化事业的就到佛陀纪念馆
So in the future, should you be affiliated to the culture undertaking of Fo Guang Shan, you shall go to the Buddha Museum

要想联络教育方面的事情，都到藏经楼人间佛教研究院
Any education related matters please refer to the Sutra Repository or the Institute of Humanistic Buddhism

要联络法会，吃饭，住宿，就来佛光寺
Anything about Dharma affairs or accommodation, then you come to Fo Guang Shan monastery

所以佛光山，今后要称为三宝山，佛宝，法宝，僧宝
So from now on Fo Guang Shan will be refer to as the triple gem mountain, the Buddha, the Dharma and the Sangha

我们到佛光山来，就觉得我们到三宝的怀抱中来
In other words when you come here, you go back to the embrace of Triple Gem

这个三宝山，最早佛光山都是有万千的信徒，把它，有的捐佛像，有的捐土地，有的捐功德香，这么把它建起来，也花了五十年时间
Therefore this Triple Gem mountain has been make possible with the contribution of our benefactors either in the form of money or statues or culture as well as other forms

那个佛陀纪念馆是大概十年多的时间，是千家寺院，百万信徒，也把它共同做起来
All together Fo Guang Shan took 50 years to be constructed, as for the Buddha Museum it took 10 years starting from a decade ago. There were a thousand monasteries, as well as millions of devotees contributed to the museum.

佛光山的徒众也满发心，满好，他们在学校里教书，或者是过去的做法会，给他们的单银，都把它节省下来，现在全部都捐出来，就建这个人间佛教研究院，就叫法宝山，就是所有没有对外化缘，都是他们出家众自己做的
As for the dharma which is the Sutra Repository, it comes from the contribution of the monastics of Fo Guang Shan who have saved up on their allowances and so for this particular building, it did not involve contribution from any devotees except for monastic only
