My name is Silvester Hodge.Stage name,King Socrates.I am known as a calypsonian.That is a person who is songwriter in the genre of Calypso music.I live here in St.Kitts.1982,I entered my first major national Calypso competition.The price was a brand new vehicle.I happened to win that competition.And so I thought,hmm.So i took that vehicle and started the tour business.
我叫塞尔凡思特霍奇，艺名是索克瑞兹国王。我是一名卡里普索家，专门创作卡里普索这一类歌曲。我就住在这儿，圣基茨。在1982年，我第一次参加了大型国际卡里普索比赛，奖品是一辆新车，那时我碰巧赢了这个比赛，我就寻思着用这辆车开启我的旅游事业。

This is Timothy Hill.So this is one of my favorite spots.North Friar’s bay to our left,the Atlantic side.And South Friar’s Bay to our right,one of the more popular beaches.
这里是提摩西山，我最喜欢的景点之一。北修士湾在大西洋旁，我们的左手边。南修士湾我们右侧，它是最受欢迎的沙滩之一。

it’s not like the best fish in the world,but once we get here,we can relax.the food is good.We can have more amenities here.i was actually born here.And so back in the day,as a child,when i returned to St.Kitts,i would compare St.Kitts with St.Thomas that was more commercial developed.You had the Burger Kings,and all you had to show was sugar cane fields,sugar cane fields.It took me a while to appreciate what St.Kitts is all about.
不能说这是世界上最好吃的鱼，但人们一到这里就可以放松下来。这儿的食物很棒，食客们都很开心。我在这里出生，当我回到圣基茨时，那时我还是个孩子，我会将它与商业更发达的圣托马斯相比较。在那儿（圣托马斯）有汉堡王,到处都是甘蔗地。过了一段时间我才开始懂得珍惜圣基茨岛的一切。

The English arrived in 1623.They were welcomed by the Kalinagos whom they called Carib indians.By 1625,the French arrived,and they were given permission to occupy this area called Basseterre.By 1626,the French and English collaborate to wipe out the local population.We got here in 1649.They brought Africans,enslaved Africans to work on the plantation in St.Kitts,Barbados,Jamaica,through out the region.
英国人在1623年踏上了这片土地，被他们称为加勒比印第安人的加勒比人欢迎了他们。法国人随后在1625年到达，他们经过同意占领了巴斯图尔。1626年，法国人和英国人联手消灭了本土居民。我们的祖先在1649年到达，殖民者将非洲人，被奴役的非洲人带到圣基茨的巴巴多斯、牙买加为他们种植，当时非洲人遍及了这个地区。

You know,there’s limestone that we use as part of the construction.Some of these walls are like 4,5,6 feet thick.Most of the stone was found on site,were cut and hewn to shape and size.But as i said,this represents 104 years of slave labor.
