Lecture 1:
Enhancing Localization Graduate Employability Through Skill-driven Curricula

Speaker 1: Loubna Bilali   

Assistant Professor, Kent State University (KSU)

Born in Morocco, Loubna holds a Ph.D. in Translation with a focus on localization from KSU, a Master’s degree in Translation (French-English) also from KSU, and a Master’s Degree in Cross-Cultural Communication and Translation from Chouaib Doukkali University in Morocco, where she also completed her undergraduate studies in English Linguistics. As part of her teaching responsibilities, Loubna is in charge of translation technology courses at the Institute for Applied Linguistics at KSU. She is also an English-Arabic grader for the American Translators Association (ATA). Her research interests are varied, including localization training, terminology management, corpus-based research, and translation pedagogy.

Translation Programs in American Universities: Features and Implications

Speaker 2: Youlan Tao

Professor, Fudan University

Youlan Tao is currently visiting Kent State University in Ohio as a Fulbright scholar (2018-2019). Her research interests include studies of translated Chinese classics, cross-cultural communication, translation pedagogy, applied translation theories, translation technology. She has published three monographs, five co-authored textbooks, several translated works, and a number of papers in leading academic journals such as Interpreter and Translator Trainer; Perspectives, Babel, Translation Review, Translation Quarterly, and Chinese Translators Journal. She also acts as the reviewer and board member of Interpreter and Translator Trainer; Perspectives; Current Trends in Translation Teaching and Learning.
