Back in 2000, Jack Dorsey wanted to creat a more live version of it.
2000年的时候Jack Dorsey 想要创造出一个更加活跃的版本。

He drew up a plan for a platform that lets users to post messages anytime from anywhere.
他拟定了一个方案，想要建立一个可以让用户们随时随地发消息的一个平台。

Years later, Dorsey presented at a hackathon held by a company called Odeo which was led by Evan Williams and Biz Stone
几年之后，发布了由一家叫做Odeo的公司所有的黑客马拉松，这家公司由Evan Williams和Biz Stone共同运营。

It was a hit.
这在当时引起了轰动。

And that’s where the story get a little bit tricky.
也正是从这时开始，推特的故事开始变得难以捉摸起来。

Twitter’s oringinal team changed quickly and some said they didn’t get the credit they deserve.
推特的创始团队在短时间内更换，其中一些人表示他们没有得到他们应有的荣誉。

In 2006, Dorsey sent out the first tweet.
2006年, Dorsey 发表了第一条推文。

Back then, users had to send in tweets via text.

Soon twitter’s growth exploded.
很快推特就得到了大势发展。

But it took a while before the public figured out just how to talk about it.

Actors activists and politicians all started using this platform.

Obama: He visited the headquater of the Twitters.

And Ashton Kutcher chanllenged CNN to get to a million followers.
Ashton Kutcher 向CNN发出挑战说他将拥有一百万个粉丝。

Ashton Kutcher：If I beat CNN to a million followers, I will literally go and dingdong ditch Ted Turner’s house.
Ashton Kutcher：如果我赌赢CNN的话，毫不夸张我将去挖Ted Turner的房子。

Team A plus K won that battle.
Ashton Kutcher最终赢得了这场比赛。

By 2010, there are an average of 65 millions tweets being sent out everyday, even from space.
到2010年的时候，每天平均有约六千五百万推文被发送出去，甚至有来自太空站的推文。

Twitter went public on the New York Stock exchange stage in 2013.
推特公司在2013年的时候在纽约证交所上市。

The price initially soared but shares are down since then.
起初，股价一路高涨但是从那之后一直走低。

And the company has had some rocky moments.
推特公司也经历了一段发展不稳定的历程。

It’s been criticized for the number of fake accounts and trolls on the platform.
推特公司因为大量的虚假账号和勒索广受非议。

Twitter was used to spread misinformation during the 2016 presidential elecion.
2016年总统大选的时候被用来传播错误消息。

Now twitter is working to purge bad actors to rethinking how its core bussiness funcion.
现在推特正致力于更改其错误的行为并且重新思考其核心商业功能。
