Abstract: Bilingual writing involves translating in the foreground as well as in the background, but at the same time, it is also quite different, leading to different explorations and possibilities. With each language possessing its own linguistic sensibilities, bilingual writing, instead of simply prioritizing faithfulness in translation, equally emphasizes on the effort of introducing and reproducing the cultural and linguistic sensibilities unique to one particular language into the target language, and results in a text of combined sensibilities. With detailed analysis of examples of the still seemingly untranslatable in this global age, the paper moves on to the discussion of employing the strategies and tactics  of overcoming the untranslatable because of  the cultural gaps, of juxtaposing and integrating different linguistic sensibilities and possibilities through the examples of my Inspector Chen novels, and Tang and Song poetry translation, as well as in some other works, and of turning the sometimes over-treaded ways of idiomatic or hackneyed expressions peculiar to  the  one particular cultural and linguistic into fresh, original and even startling ones through linguistic integration. And in the process of it, bilingual writing also carries implied and subtle critique from intercultural perspectives. As a result, it may therefore points to a new enlarged horizon of further cultural understanding and integrating for this global age.

Keywords: Bilingual writing, translating, linguistic sensibilities, integration, integrated cultural and linguistic perspectives, writing in the global age, translatable and untranslatable
